Sorry, I don’t accept your apology...

By now we’ve all heard about the insane and idiotic comments to come out of Don Imus’ mouth. I took my time in blogging about it as I was wanted to see what the outcome would be. I, for one, do not accept his apology. Calling the women from the Rutger’s University basketball team (or anyone else) “nappy-headed hos” is NOT a mistake. It’s called racist and it’s completely unacceptable.

Even though Don Imus is a shock-jock and outrageous behaviour comes along with the territory, his comments were not entertaining—they were just insulting. Why he thought that it was okay to say such ignorance on air (or anywhere) is beyond me.

I know that some say that if we (black people) speak to each other in that manner, why can’t anyone else do the same? Personally, if anyone called me a nappy-headed ho (black or white) they were getting a serious beatdown!

I know that the ambiguity of the overuse of the n-word and any other offensive word among black people does have something to do with this situation. It does not make it any better, though. I don’t believe in using degrading language towards anyone, and don’t think that it should be encouraged in any medium. Until my next post…
