What’s up with my FLOW?
I hope that I am dreaming. Is it really true that FLOW 93.5fm is switching to a Top 40 format? I hope that it’s a big fat lie.
I recently received a forward from a friend appealing to anyone who wants FLOW to maintain its urban format to boycott the new FLOW. My first response was, “What the…? Why would they change their format? We do not need another Top 40 radio station.” I for one cannot stomach formulaic pop songs.
What caught my attention in the e-mail is that it said that Mark and Jemeni were allegedly let go. Let me just say that I was shocked to read that, but I had been wondering why I didn’t hear their voices on their show—the Morning Rush all last week.
I am completely stunned that FLOW plans to change its format and I am infuriated that my fave on-air personalities are apparently gone. They are the reason why I tune into the station every morning. Listening to their show is the highlight of my morning. The show is entertaining, funny and makes my almost endless voyage to work seem enjoyable.
But I will say that some questionable songs were sneaking their way onto the FLOW airwaves. What’s with that weird Justin Timberlake song and
Perhaps FLOW should work on their playlist rather than change their format and thus alienate their original target audience. An urban radio station is needed in
My advice to the Program Director would be to go to the States and listen to their urban radio stations. They are good and they really cater to their audience.
I hope that the change does not take place, but just in case it does, I too, will be an ex-FLOW listener.
