Happy New Year!
I can’t believe that my Christmas vacation has come to an end. I had two whole weeks off and it was nice and relaxing.
I spent the majority of time hooking up with friends, but I also spent a lot of time watching TV. I watched more TV in the past 2 weeks than I did all year! (I’m not really into TV anymore, however, I am bizarrely addicted to the hgtv channel and a couple of reality shows).
One of the shows that I caught accidentally over the holidays was Strange Love. It stars Brigitte Nielsen, an 80’s throwback, (her claim to fame is that she was once married to Sylvester Stallone), and Flavor Flav of Public Enemy. As the title suggests, this show chronicles the daily insanity of this unlikely couple.
For those not in the reality series know, sparks flew between Brigitte and Flavor when they were cast together on season 3 of The Surreal Life. As inconceivable as it may be, they actually seemed to care for each other. They were the only two castmates that dug deep to really get to know one another. However, it made my stomach turn every time they showed any form of affection. Think: a tall, bottle blonde, boozy, ex-actress, making out with a skinny, aging, rap star. Not pretty!
Since their shocking love affair was such a hit for the series, Strange Love was created. It allowed the audience to track this train wreck of a relationship.
About a week ago, I watched about 15 minutes of an episode and all I could do was sit with my mouth wide open. Watching Flavor run after Brigitte in a nightclub (in Italy) as she kissed tons of guys, made me want to jump through the TV and shake the life out of him. It made me question if he was the same person who spit rhymes on “Fight The Power.”
What I understood from that episode is that they were still very much a couple, but Brigitte was also engaged to another man. Flavor knew about him, but fooled himself into thinking that she only wanted him. Poor disillusioned, Flavor!
The worst part of the show was that with every minute that went by, Flavor seemed to degrade himself more and more. Besides being played by Brigitte and being laughed at by her friends, he came off as the most uncouth man alive. The fact that Brigitte felt the need to hire a lady to teach him table etiquette (and justly so) is reason enough why these two should not be together.

I think Flav is just milking the TV network for whatever he can get for this show. I don't think he really cares about Brigitte. If he wasn't doing this, what would he be doing?
